《邱少云：为整体胜利而自我牺牲》

Qiu Shaoyun: Self-Sacrifice for Overall Victory

1952年10月，上甘岭战役打响。为拿下一个易守难攻的“391”制高点，邱少云所在营利用黑夜作掩护，潜伏在一片开阔草丛里，待到第二天黄昏再向敌人阵地发起冲击。“391”高地山势险要，工事坚固，火力严密，要在敌人的眼皮子底下隐蔽二十多个小时，任务十分艰巨。邱少云所在的班埋伏在整个部队的最前头，距离敌人工事只有20多米，到第二天早晨，战士们已埋伏了一个夜晚，大家顽强地坚持着，一动不动。

In October 1952, Battle of Triangle Hill began. In order to win the “391” commanding height, which was easy to defend but hard to attack, Qiu Shaoyun’s camp used the night as a cover, lurked in an open grass, and then waited until the dusk of the next day before attacking the enemy’s position. “391” highland was strategically located and difficult of access, with solid fortifications and tight firepower. It was arduous for our camp to hide under the enemy’s eyes for more than 20 hours. Qiu Shaoyun’s squad lay in ambush at the front of the whole army, only 20 meters away from the enemy’s fortifications. By the next morning, the soldiers had been lying in ambush all night, and they persevered staunchly and kept their bodies unmoved.

上午时分，敌人又开始向高地上空投燃烧弹，一颗燃烧弹在邱少云身后爆炸，燃烧液溅到他身上的蒿草上，眨眼工夫，他脚上的蒿草烧着了，火苗腾腾地冒起来，他身后就是一条水沟，此刻，邱少云只要在泥水里打个滚，或者翻动一下身子，就可以把火苗扑灭，但他深知这样做整个潜伏区的战士就会被发现，整个潜伏行动也就会失败。于是，他坚定地伏在草丛中，一会儿，烈火就蔓延到了全身。邱少云痛苦地咬着牙，身体紧紧地贴着地面，脸上挂满了汗珠，他唯一有的细微动作，就是那双手，疼痛使他将手指头深深地插进泥土里。为了战斗取得最后的胜利，他始终严守潜伏纪律，用超强的意志和毅力强忍着烈火烧身的剧痛直至生命的最后时刻，牺牲时年仅26岁。

In the morning, the enemy began to make airdrop of firebomb over the high ground again. A firebomb exploded behind Qiu Shaoyun, and the burning liquid splashed on the wormwood on his body. In a blink of an eye, the wormwood on his feet burned and the flames were rising. There was a ditch behind him. At this moment, Qiu Shaoyun could put out the fire just by rolling in the mud or turning over his body. But he knew that if he did this, the soldiers in the whole lurking area would be found and the whole lurking operation would fail. So, he crawled firmly in the grass and the fire spread to the whole body in a moment. Qiu Shaoyun bit his teeth in pain, with his body close to the ground and face covering with sweat. The only slight movement he had was his hands. The pain made him insert his fingers deeply into the soil. In order to win the final victory, he strictly observed the latent disciplines. He endured the pain of burning until the last moment of his life with strong will and perseverance. He was only 26 years old when he died.

战后，邱少云被追认为中国共产党党员，追记特等功，追授“一级英雄”称号，同时被朝鲜民主主义人民共和国最高人民会议常任委员会追授“朝鲜民主主义人民共和国英雄”称号和金星奖章、一级国旗勋章。

After the war, Qiu Shaoyun was recognized as a member of the Communist Party of China and posthumously awarded a Special-Class Merit citation and the title of “first-class hero”. At the same time, he was awarded the title of “Hero of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”, Gold Star Medal and the first-class National Flag Medal by the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Congress of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
